This Privacy Notice for Horizon Group ("we," "us," or "our") describes how we handle information when you use our services ("Services"), including when you:
Visit our website at https://syncbeam.io or any website of ours that links to this Privacy Notice.
Use the SyncBeam apps — SyncBeam sends files from your iPhone to your Mac directly over your local Wi-Fi network. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no cloud: your files travel device-to-device and land in ~/Downloads. They never pass through our servers, and we cannot see them.
Because of that design, the personal information we handle is minimal: essentially, what you send us when you contact support, and basic anonymous analytics on our website.
Questions or concerns? Reading this Privacy Notice will help you understand your privacy rights and choices. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Services. If you still have any questions or concerns, please contact us at privacy@horizon-group.io.

1. What Information Do We Collect?
In Short: Only what you choose to send us when you get in touch, plus anonymous website analytics.
Contact and support messages
When you contact us through the form on our website or by email (support@syncbeam.io), we receive the name, email address, and message contents you provide. We use this solely to respond to you.
Website analytics
Our website uses a lightweight analytics service to understand aggregate traffic — things like page views and referring sites. This data is not used to build profiles of individual visitors.
Sensitive Information. We do not process sensitive information.
2. What Do We NOT Collect?
In Short: The SyncBeam apps are designed so that your data stays on your devices. Most of this policy is short because there is very little to write about.
- No accounts. SyncBeam has no registration, sign-in, or user accounts. We hold no account data because none exists.
- No files. Files you send with SyncBeam travel directly from your iPhone to your Mac over your local Wi-Fi network. They are never uploaded to, stored on, or visible to our servers.
- No pairing data. Device names, pairing tokens, and IP addresses used for pairing are exchanged directly between your devices (via QR code and your local network) and stored only on those devices.
- No transfer history. The history of what you've sent and received is stored locally on your devices and never leaves them.
- No app telemetry. The SyncBeam apps do not send usage data, crash reports, or analytics to us.
Removing this data is entirely in your hands: unpair a device or delete the apps and it's gone.
3. How Do We Use Your Information?
In Short: To answer your messages, keep our website working, and comply with law.
- To respond to your questions, bug reports, and support requests
- To understand aggregate website traffic and improve our website
- To protect our Services against abuse
- To comply with applicable legal obligations
We do not use your information for marketing or promotional communications, and we do not send newsletters.
4. When and With Whom Do We Share Your Personal Information?
In Short: We don't sell or rent personal information. We share it only with the service providers that make our website's contact form and analytics work, or if the law requires it.
Service Providers. The third-party services described in Section 5 process limited information on our behalf to operate our website.
Legal Requirements. We may disclose information where required to do so by law or valid legal process.
Business Transfers. If our business is ever merged, acquired, or sold, the limited information we hold (support correspondence) may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Notice.
5. What Third-Party Services Do We Use?
In Short: Two — a form-handling service and a website analytics service. Your files never touch either of them.
FormNinja. Messages sent through our website's contact form (including the name and email address you provide) are delivered to us via FormNinja, a form-handling service.
Statsmatic. Our website uses Statsmatic for aggregate visitor analytics, such as page views and referrers.
App Store. The SyncBeam iPhone app is distributed through Apple's App Store, and downloads are subject to Apple's own privacy policy. Apple does not share your identity with us when you download the app.
Third-party links. Our Services may link to third-party websites we don't control. Any data collected by third parties is not covered by this Privacy Notice, and we encourage you to review their policies.
6. How Long Do We Keep Your Information?
In Short: Support messages are kept only as long as they're useful for helping you; there is nothing else to keep.
We retain support and contact correspondence for as long as needed to resolve your question and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you follow up, after which it is deleted. Website analytics are retained in aggregate form only.
Everything the SyncBeam apps store — pairing data and transfer history — lives on your own devices, under your control, and is removed when you unpair a device or delete the apps. You may request deletion of any correspondence we hold at any time by emailing privacy@horizon-group.io.
7. How Do We Keep Your Information Safe?
In Short: The best protection is that your data mostly never reaches us in the first place. What little does is handled with care.
In the apps
- Local-only transfers: Files move directly between your devices over your local network and are encrypted in transit using TLS
- Authenticated transfers: Every transfer is authenticated with a random token generated at pairing and exchanged only via QR code — it is never broadcast over the network
- On-device storage: Pairing credentials on iPhone are stored in the system Keychain
On the website
- Our website and contact form are served over HTTPS
- Support correspondence is accessible only to us
Despite our safeguards, no electronic transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. If we learn of a security breach affecting personal information we hold about you, we will notify you promptly and cooperate with regulatory authorities as required.
8. Do We Collect Information from Minors?
In Short: We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If we learn we have collected personal information from a child — for example, through a support message — we will delete that information promptly.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@horizon-group.io.
9. What Are Your Privacy Rights?
In Short: Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. Because we hold so little, exercising them is simple: email us.
Depending on your jurisdiction — including the EEA, UK, California, and other US states with privacy laws — you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, to receive a copy of it in a portable format, and to opt out of sales or targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of.
In practice, the only personal information we are likely to hold about you is support correspondence. To exercise any right, email privacy@horizon-group.io and tell us what you'd like — we will act on your request within the timeframe required by applicable law, and will not discriminate against you for making one. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our response.
If you are located in the EEA or UK and believe we are unlawfully processing your personal information, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection supervisory authority. US state residents may contact their state Attorney General if an appeal is denied.
Data the SyncBeam apps store on your own devices — pairing data and transfer history — is under your direct control; you can remove it at any time by unpairing a device or deleting the apps, without needing to involve us.
10. Controls for Do-Not-Track Features
Most web browsers include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature you can activate to signal your preference not to have your online browsing monitored. No uniform standard for recognizing DNT signals has been finalized, and we do not respond to them — but we also do not track individual visitors across sites; our website analytics are aggregate only.
11. Do We Make Updates to This Notice?
In Short: Yes, we will update this notice as necessary to stay compliant with relevant laws.
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Last updated" date and the updated version will be effective as soon as it is accessible. If we make material changes to this Privacy Notice, we will post the revised notice prominently on this page.
